Locus Solus I - Winter 1961

Locus Solus Press, 1960. Small octavo, original printed wraps. Toning to fragile paper wraps, some loss to base of spine. Item #10002

Frank O'Hara's own copy, with his ownership signature in ink on the first page and his dating, in pencil, of each of his ten included poems: "Poem," "Overlooking the River," "East River," "Ducal Days," "Locarno," "The Opera," "House," "Failures of Spring," "Adieu to Norman, Bonjour to Joan and Jean-Paul," and "Far from the Porte des Lilas and the Rue Pergolese." Also contains poems by Kenneth Koch, James Schuyler, John Ashbery, and Fairfield Porter. "I wish I were staying in town and working on my poems / at Joan's studio for a new book by Grove Press / which they will probably not print / but it is good to be several floors up in the dead of night / wondering whether you are any good or not / and the only decision you can make is that you did it." A great association copy, housed in a custom clamshell box.
