First edition, first printing, with correct publisher's code H-Z and the date in Roman numerals on the title page. The first collection of lyrics by a leading poet of the Harlem Renaissance, including "Yet Do I Marvel," "Incident," and "Heritage": "What is last year's snow to me? / Last year's anything? The tree / Budding yearly must forget / How its past arose or set." A nicer copy than usually found of an African-American literary classic.
