The first book published in Asimov's cornerstone Foundation series that won the one-time Hugo Award for "Best All-Time Series" in 1966. Originally published as a series of short stories between 1942 and 1950, and then published in three collections between 1951 and 1953, as a trilogy: Foundation, Foundation and Empire, and Second Foundation. Years later Asimov returned to the series, and added two sequels: Foundation's Edge and Foundation and Earth, and two prequels: Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation. A number of other works of Asimov's also take place in the same universe. Basis for the Apple TV+ series.
